Hartalika Teej is celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. The day falls a month after Hariyali Teej and a day before Ganesh Chaturthi. Hartalika Teej commemorates the reunion of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

In 2024 Hartalika Teej will fall on Friday, 6th September.

The word Hartalika is made by joining the words ‘harat’ meaning abduction and ‘Aalika’ means one who is a good female friend.
