1. Find a Purpose
Having a purpose in life equate to a longer life. Consider what is more valuable to you, your family and friends, or your cause and beliefs. Age is just a number, but living as fully as you can during those years is the real measure of a long life well-lived.

2. Move around for 30 minutes a day
It’s no surprise that exercise is good for the body. Just 30 minutes of physical activity can add years to your life. It is recommended to have a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week. Strength training has several benefits. It protects bone health, muscle mass, keeps you lean, increases energy levels, and prevents injuries.
Exercise has been shown to reduce your risk of age-related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, and certain cancers while strengthening your bones and muscles, and boosting your overall life expectancy.
3. Educate themselves about the food they eat
Eating healthy starts with shifting the way you think about food. Eating healthy is one of the hardest parts of changing your lifestyle to a healthy one. It’s easy to grab fast food or go out to dinner and get your favorite pasta. However, eating healthy is not just about your weight, healthy food provides more energy to your body, improves your overall health, and increases productivity. The easiest way to do that is to start by adding one green thing a day to your daily menu.
4. Have a meal plan
Don’t just eat anything anytime, make a meal plan and try to stick to it. Like, avoid eating anything after dinner, don’t eat junk foods, and stick to whole foods with high nutritional value.
What you eat now can have a serious impact on your life in the long term, including its length. A healthy diet, rich in fruits, veggies, fiber, and whole foods, has been shown to be protective against inflammation and chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and certain cancers.
5. Stay Connected
Friendships and relationships are more than just emotionally fulfilling; they are beneficial for your physical health too! If you’re trying to build healthy habits into other areas of your life, your relationships could support you in doing so. Love is unlimited and never runs out. You can give it away as much as you like. Give some of your love and kindness away every day. Even being supportive of others can be good for your health, so make sure to prioritize time for friends and loved ones.
6. Drink at least 2 liters of water every day
Drinking water benefits your body and brain function in infinite ways. Water is a key element your body needs to stabilize your blood pressure and heartbeat, carry nutrients and oxygen to your cells, aid in digestion, and cushion your joints. Before making a run to the coffee pot first thing in the morning, drink a tall glass of water to replenish the fluids your body used up while you were sleeping.
7. Go outside a lot for 2-8 hours
This study found that spending a minimum of 120 minutes per week outdoors decreases heart rate and improves psychological well-being. It should also be mentioned that being outdoors increases your exposure to sunlight, which is vital to receiving the vitamin D our bodies need.
8. At least 7 hours of quality sleep
According to the Sleep Foundation (an online sleep resource overseen by a medical advisory board), sleep allows your body to relax and, during the REM stage of sleep (the deepest stage of sleep), it provides an essential rest period that supports your brain’s memory and learning functions. So, if you’re looking for healthy habits to get into, healthy sleep habits are a crucial place to start. The average person needs between six and eight hours of sleep per day.
9. Meditate frequently
A key ritual that all busy people need to factor into their daily routines is stress relief. When we are stressed, our bodies produce high levels of cortisol, a hormone secreted when we feel threatened or anxious. As a result, our blood pressure and heart rate increase and can become damaging over time. Stress can also lead to other unhealthy habits—drug abuse, smoking, drinking, and overeating. Manage your stress with mindful exercise, meditation, deep breathing where you will find peace and joy.
10. Smile a lot
Smile a lot and always find something to laugh about. Feeling calm or happy usually continue feeling that way for the remainder of the day, while those who start their day in a terrible mood not only stay that way – they typically feel worse by the end of the day.
