Riti Riwaz means Customs they are such traditions or rites that have gone on in generations to generation. They are related to daily activities or major events in life. Sometimes they are also part of religion and festival.

Riti is an indigenous / Sanskrit derived word and Rivaaj comes from the Persian Rivaaz.

Tulasidas’ Doha reads thus:

Sur-nar-muni sab kai yah Reeti
Svarath milahi karai sab preeti.
