The Nizams were the rulers of Hyderabad, India from the early eighteenth century until the mid-twentieth century, after the partition, when Hyderabad was fused with the rest of India.

Nizam was the title of the native sovereigns of Hyderabad State, India. Seven Nizams ruled Hyderabad for two centuries until Indian independence in 1947. The Nizams were very fond of pearls and due to their importance and stature, they were required to wear the best attire, have the best food, and live the finest lifestyle.

It was the patronage of the Nizams for pearls that attracted Arab traders from the Gulf to Hyderabad. They appointed Ram Dutt Malji as Royal Jeweller in 1906 who own a pearl shop in the city that sold pearls.

The pearl trade in Hyderabad has evolved tremendously over time. If you are looking to buy some of the most exquisite pearls, then Hyderabad is definitely a one-stop destination for all your requirements.

What is Pearl

A pearl is a hard object produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusk or another animal, such as a conulariid.

A pearl is composed of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers. Natural pearls form in the bodies, or mantle tissue, of certain mollusks, usually around a microscopic irritant, and always without human help of any kind.

Perhaps the best-loved gems of all time, pearls—both natural and modern cultured pearls—occur in a wide variety of colors. The most familiar colors are white and cream (a light yellowish-brown). Black, gray, and silver are also fairly common, but the palette of pearl colors extends to every hue.

The main color, or body color, is often modified by additional colors called overtones, which are typically pink (sometimes called rosé), green, purple, or blue. Some pearls also show the iridescent phenomenon known as Orient.

Pearl is one of the five precious jewels in the world. This gem was considered the most precious of all among the ancients and was obtained from the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Persian Gulf.

A birthstone is a gemstone culturally associated with the month of a person’s birth, and Pearl is associated with the person born in the month of June.

Protect your Pearl

Cosmetics, sunblock, perfume, and hairspray all contain chemicals that can dramatically dull the luster of a pearl. The natural acids contained in body oils and perspiration can also damage pearls in the same way. It is best to put your pearls on at least 30 minutes after applying any personal care products and to take your pearls off before getting ready for bed. A good rule of thumb to remember is that pearls should be the last things to put on and the first things to take off.

Wiping the pearls with a damp, soft cloth after you wear them will ensure that they remain free of the harmful build-up of compounds that may damage the nacre of your pearls. Always keep your pearls separated from hard jewelry items such as rings or bracelets to prevent them from being scratched. Pearls are best kept in a soft cloth pouch or a soft-lined jewelry box. Never store your pearls in an airtight environment such a ziplock bag. Pearls are organic and do contain trace amounts of water. Storing them in an airtight environment will cause them to become brittle and damage the luster.
