Bad Breath Causes and Home Remedies

Bad breath happens. If you’ve ever gotten that not-so-fresh feeling on a date, at a job interview, or just talking with friends, you’re not alone. Studies show that 50 percent of adults have had bad breath, or halitosis, at some point in their lives.

Causes of Bad Breath

Bad breath or halitosis is the unpleasant odor of the mouth which may be a result of poor dental hygiene, health problems. Most bad breath is caused by poor oral hygiene. If you don’t clean your teeth and your whole mouth regularly, food particles can remain in your mouth and a sticky buildup of bacteria (also known as plaque) can form on your teeth. The uneven surface of your tongue as well as your tonsils can trap food particles and bacteria in the mouth which produce bad breath odor. Poor oral hygiene also causes other oral health conditions such as cavities and gum disease which are also associated with bad breath. Some of the reasons for bad breath are:

1. The dirt of our tongue:

Often, when we eat something and do not clean our tongue and teeth properly, then our tongue gets dirty due to which the smell comes out of our mouth. If we clean the tongue continuously, then this smell also stops. So keep your teeth clean along with your tongue. To clean the tongue, you should start using a good quality Tounge Cleaner.

2. The dirt of our teeth:

Just as the case with tongue, in the same way, we should also keep our teeth clean. If we take care of our teeth, it will remove the stench of the mouth and at the same time our teeth will also remain strong and we will never have any serious problem related to teeth.

When you eat something, then clean the teeth thoroughly. Our brush has an important role in teeth cleaning, so always use a good quality brush.

3. Not rinsing and doing brush:

Often this is the biggest reason for the smell of the mouth, not to rinse. We definitely eat something many times in a day, but we do not rinse or brush every time. We do brush early in the morning but do not brush after that, some people have the habit of doing brush at night also.

By not brushing and not rinse, dirt starts to accumulate in our mouth. Even if you do not realize this, but people who live or talk with you, they definitely know the smell of your mouth.

4. Swelling of gums:

When the gums of our mouth start swelling, then our mouth starts smelling. This happens when we get intoxicated or eat or drink something hot at once, because of which the gums swell.

Also, by not brushing well or brushing in haste many times our brush slips through the teeth and rubs it on our gums, which has a bad effect on the gums. Due to which later it causes the stench of the mouth.

5. Stomach indigestion:

Indigestion in the stomach is a simple thing. Often when we eat some oily food or Junk Food, we start having indigestion. If you eat such things, it affects your body as well as your mouth, which causes the smell of your mouth.  Therefore, to avoid indigestion or stink, avoid junk food.

6. The food you eat:

Smell due to the food you eat. You must be feeling strange but it happens, what you eat has an effect on your whole body. For example, if you eat your onions, then the person in front of you knows that you ate onions, so after eating such things, make sure to rinse them.

When you eat something, make a habit of rinse. Non-rinse after a meal causes an odor from your mouth.

7. Intoxication:

It is common for people who get intoxicated to smell from their mouths. Such people do not care about themselves. Such people forget their smell after getting intoxicated and remain upset. Often the person who gets addicted to the drug starts smelling dirty from his mouth which makes the frontman feel bad. You do feel good for some time due to intoxication, but it only hurts you. This is a common cause of bad mouth.
