Guru Gobind Singh (1666 – 1708), was the tenth Sikh Guru, warrior, poet, and philosopher. He founded the Sikh warrior community called Khalsa in 1699 and introduced the Five Ks (Kesh, Kangha, Kara, Kirpan, and Kacchera), the five articles of faith that Khalsa Sikhs wear at all times. He declared Guru Granth Sahib as the last and eternal Guru of Sikhs.
He is best known for rising against Mughal rulers and safeguarding the interest of the people. He preached justice, peace, and equality for all. He lives the life of a saint and inspired millions of Sikhs with his writings that depict the way he led his life. He had strict principles, which he and his followers followed and still follow religiously. His lifelong battle against the plundering Mughals ensures the survival of Sikhism.
