Donald Trump the elected president of America is announced as a person of the year by time magazine.

NBC host Matt Lauer pointed out that the “person of the year” is chosen for influencing events for better or for worse. There were 11 candidates chosen by Time magazine and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also one of them. Among the other candidates chosen was Mark Zuckerberg for Facebook, Vladimir Putin as Russian president, Beyoncé Knowles for her performance, The Flint Whistleblowers for drawing attention to the environmental crisis, Nigel Farage head of the U.K. Independence Party, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as Turkish president, CRISPR Scientists for developing new technology that can edit DNA, Hillary Clinton for being the first woman to receive the U.S. presidential nomination, Simone Biles for Olympic debut in Rio de Janeiro.

But Donald Trump won as it is difficult to deny his incredible impact on the news this year by winning the presidential election. The magazine cover’s subtitle calling him “the president of the divided states of America.”
