The Muslim holy month Ramadan starts on Sunday, 10th March with the sighting of the new moon and will continue for 30 days until the first week of April. (The Actual Date Varies With The Cycle Of Moon, Every Year).

Eid in 2024 will be celebrated on 9th April.

A sacred and Holy month of Ramadan is very important for Muslims all over the world, they keep fast for the entire month which ends with Eid-ul-Fitr including grand celebrations and Iftar parties, it is a Muslim version of Christmas.

The fasting for Ramadan starts from sunrise to sunset they abstain from eating any food, drinking any liquids, smoking, and engaging in any sexual activities from sunrise to sunset.

Muslims wake up before sunrise and eat the first meal of the day called Sehri which is the last meal until sunset. They eat a lot of high-protein foods and drink as much water as possible so they remain energized throughout the day.

At dawn, they perform morning prayers and would attend their normal work routine during these days even while fasting. In the evening they have light meals before prayers and call it as iftar then after performing evening prayers they have a large meal.

Muslims increase their prayers, charity during Ramadan and practice self-discipline. It is believed that “When Ramadan arrives, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of hell are locked up and devils are put in chains.”

The end of Ramadan is Eid ul-Fitr also called Meethi EidFestival of breaking of the fast“. this festival is celebrated as the conclusion of the 30 days of fasting. After the 29-30 days of dawn to sunset fasting period, Eid-U-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal, the month that follows Ramadan. On this day Muslims attend communal prayers and it is a big joyous occasion.
