No More India’s Big Fat Wedding

A new bill introduced in Lok Sabha to limit the total expenditure made at the wedding to Rs 5 Lakh.

A Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan, the wife of MP Pappu Yadav, introduced a new bill to limit the amount of expenditure made at weddings if the total expenditure exceeds Rs 5 Lakh then you have to pay 10% of the total amount as tax.

“These days, marriages are more about showing off your wealth and as a result, poor families are under tremendous social pressure to spend more. This is needed to be checked as it is not good for society at large,” said Congress MP.

The money collected through such tax will be used to help poor families to pay for there wedding. The proposed bill if passed and becomes law then it will limit the number of guests and relatives attending the wedding will limit the number of dishes served at the wedding.

The wedding is a huge industry in the Indian market and every year Million wedding take place every year, and almost half of them are with lavish ceremonies with hundreds of guest attending.
