A new bill introduced in Lok Sabha to limit the total expenditure made in wedding to Rs 5 Lakh.
A congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan, wife of MP Pappu Yadav, introduced a new bill to limit the amount of expenditure made in weddings, if the total expenditure exceed Rs 5 Lakh than you have to pay 10% of the total amount as tax.
“These days, marriages are more about showing off your wealth and as a result, poor families are under tremendous social pressure to spend more. This is needed to be checked as it is not good for society at large.” said the congress MP.
The money collected through such tax will be used to help poor families to pay for there wedding. The prososed bill if passed and becomes a law than it will limit the number of guests and relative attending the wedding, will limit the amount of dishes served in the wedding.
Wedding is a huge industry in Indian market and every year Million wedding take place every year,and almost half of them are with lavish ceremonies with hundreds of guest attending.
