National Sisters Day
National Sisters Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August. The day celebrates sisterhood and the special and unique bond they share.
In 2022 National Sisters Day will be celebrated on August 7th.
Sisters – sometimes you love them, sometimes you can’t stand them, but you definitely can’t live without them. Who else would braid your hair, let you borrow their clothes, and keep all of your deepest, darkest secrets? While “sister” is usually used to refer to a female sibling, the term can be used for a variety of relationships. In many cultures, the term is used to address a female nurse, a woman who is in religious services, like a nun, or any other unrelated woman who shares a person’s religion.
Who created the day
It is unknown who created the holiday, but it’s a great excuse to call up your sister(s), tell them how much you love them, and get together if they live nearby. This Unofficial Holiday encourages people to celebrate the special relationship between them and their sisters. sisters Day or National Sisters’ Day as called in the United States, encourages people to celebrate the special relationship between them and their sisters. This is a day to acknowledge the joy and love that your sister brings into your life and to make sure that she knows that you cherish all that she does for you.
India and Nepal have two different days dedicated to the bonds between brothers and sisters; Raksha Bandhan/Janai Purnima and Bhai Dooj/Bhai Tika. But this day is just for sisters and not brothers and sisters.
How to celebrate
Having a sibling just like yourself roaming around you, annoying you, teasing you, and surprising you with gifts is no less than a celebration. Treat each other to something fun and relaxing, and let your sister know that you appreciate her role in the family, either as an older sister who watched out for you as a kid, or a younger sister who maybe was the baby of the family, but always made everyone laugh.
If you live far from your sister or sisters, call them or send them a card telling them how much you love them and appreciate them. If you live close to them, visit them and celebrate this day by watching movies dedicated to sisters and sharing your best memories with your sister on social media platforms. You can go to some recreational spot with your sister or gift her or treat her to something special on this day.
