8 Powerful Durga Mantra

8 Powerful Durga Mantra

Goddess Durga or Shakti is the most powerful deity and principal form of the Mother Goddess in Hinduism. Durga mantra are recited during almost all the celebrations, rituals, and events of Maa Durga.

The name ‘Durga’ in Sanskrit means ‘invincible’. The syllable ‘du’ is synonymous with the 4 devils namely poverty, suffering, famine, and evil habits. The ‘r’ refers to diseases and the ‘ga’ is the destroyer of sins, injustice, irreligion, cruelty, and laziness. Just like we have a male and female to give birth to a child and start a new life, similarly for the creation of the universe, we have male and female energy. It is called “Shiva Shakti“, Shiva represents the male energy and Shakti the female one.

Mantras are melodious hymns that create powerful vibrations around those who chant them. Chant these Durga mantras to please Goddess Durga and help to invoke her and receive her blessings. There are several mantras to please Goddess Durga of which “Om Sri Durgaya Namah” is the simplest one.
