Every year the fourth Sunday of October is celebrated as Mother-in-Law Day. A mother-in-law is the mother of a person’s spouse. Two women who are mothers-in-law to each other’s children may be called co-mothers-in-law.

Mother-in-law’s day is when you have an excellent chance to pay praise, respect, integrity, and appreciation to your mother-in-law. You can use this day to clear all the misunderstandings between you and your mother-in-law, and the best opportunity to make your relationship strong and well-bonded.

Mothering Sunday is celebrated on the fourth Sunday in Lent similarly Mother-in-law day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday in October. It is a way to show support and honor all mothers-in-law who from babysitting to giving all kinds of useful advice made their children grow in a secure environment.

History

The day was established in 1930 by the editor of a local newspaper in Texas, the US. Earlier it was celebrated on 5th March 1934 but later shifted to the 4th Sunday of October. He published an article in his newspaper relating to Mother’s Day and in end wrote about a day that needed to be celebrated for Mother-in-law.

Mother-in-Law is called the second mother. Mother and Mother-in-Law both of them are the main properties in the world. The reason for celebrating the day is to recognize the many important contributions that women make in raising their children, and in providing the stability that their children need as well.

How to celebrate the day

You have always wished your Mother on Mother Day but have you ever practiced wishing it to your Mother-in-law it is a little bit complicated. Some things you can do to wish your Mother-in-law. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the world. In most communities, parades, workshops, lectures, and presentations are organized.

  • You can give her cards and wish her a Happy Mother-in-law’s day.
  • Make a call to her and wish her.
  • If your mother-in-law has a good sense of humor, then funnily wish her a funny message with a mother-in-law day wish.
  • If she likes simplicity, expect her in simple words and tell her how much she is essential for you.
