International Human Resources Day – 20 May

On 20 May, the HR profession will celebrate International Human Resources Day, a day to celebrate how the HR profession helps drive business success by attracting and developing the right talents and helping people to grow. HR as a profession will come together to celebrate the positive contribution HR makes to the growth of individuals and organizations on both a national and international scale.

The theme for 2022 is “HR shaping the new future.” The theme is about the role of HR is changing and improving working lives, not slipping back into traditional ways of thinking and working. The theme implies we are leading a future that will be more inclusive, flexible, and participative; one that will benefit workers, organizations, and society as a whole.

History

This project emerged through the international collaboration of 33 countries gathered under the umbrella of the European Association for People Management (EAPM ), which aims to allow HR professionals to celebrate the work that is done both for the organizations in which they work and for society in general.

The role of the human resources department in a company has evolved, participating in different aspects of the management of a company including trends in salary, training, talent acquisition, employer branding, engagement, retention, corporate social responsibility (CSR), or outsourcing. HR has always supported the company’s goals, vision, mission, values ​​, and not least the business and performance results. Collaboration and not least the optimization support as well as the individual employees’ opportunity for personal development has always been a priority area for HR.

Throughout the ages, HR has always been a management tool to support the organization’s development and financial results. HR will continue to do so in the future. HR has been the body in the organization that has been able to be the partner that brings managers and employees in greater interaction – and challenges organizations in the development that are required to be at the forefront of the competitive world, we are all a part of both in the private as well as public organizations. Trust, efficiency, and not least Continuous improvement – which is the ongoing process we all in everyday life should and must be able to support.

Professionals and organizations all over the world celebrate International Human Resources Day in recognition of the dedicated people who make HR a vital organ of offices and industries.
