Best Friends Day – June 8th
Best Friends Day is observed each year on 8 June, so celebrate it with your best friend for being in your life. Today is our opportunity to celebrate that one special person in our lives who has always been there for us. It’s important to show the people in your life that you love and care about them – especially your friends.
Best friends are family outside the home. Good friends are hard to come by, and we need to make the extra effort to show our appreciation for them. Even if you don’t meet up for months or even years, it’s a great feeling knowing that our best friends will always be there any time of the day or night when we call. Now, get on your phone and text or call your buddy to catch up on their lives!
There are so many ways we spend quality time with our closest compadres. We eat together, which is the most popular way to hang out! Moving going, attending concerts, crafting, boating, walking, biking, listening to music and the activities can go on and on…
History of Best Friends Day
In 1935, the US Congress reportedly gathered to devote a day each year in tribute to friends and friendship, choosing 8 June because it has a higher chance of good weather. Since then, it appears that the day has grown in popularity, with countries across the globe getting involved in the special day of friendship.
There’s another friendship-orientated day coming up next month as well – International Day of Friendship, on 30 July. In 2011, the United Nations declared the 30 July International Day of Friendship, to inspire peace and building bridges between communities.
This year due to the ongoing pandemic everything has gone virtual, to share your wishes and interact with your friends virtually too. You can share the hashtag #NationalBestFriendDay in your social media post and can send gifts through e-commerce websites to make them feel how special they are to us. Plus, this would be a great way to celebrate love and joy while following the social distancing norms.
