FIR filed against Kapil Sharma for destroying mangroves
Mumbai: An FIR has been filed against comedian and actor Kapil Sharma under the environment protection act and MRTP act for destroying mangroves in Versova, Mumbai. The Andheri court on Wednesday had directed Versovaa police to registers an FIR against Sharma under Section 187 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for alleged violation of the Environment Act. Reportedly, Sharma allegedly dumped debris near mangroves behind his bungalow in Versova. [tweet id=”808970267636604928″] Earlier this year, a controversy surfaced after Sharma in a tweet alleged that he had been asked to pay a bribe of Rs 5 lakh by an official of BMC. He had also tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the tweet asking if this was the achche din he promised. He had tweeted saying, “I am paying Rs 15 cr income tax from the last 5-year and still I have to pay Rs 5 lakhs bribe to BMC office for making my office @narendramodi (sic).” An FIR was filed against Sharma in September by Versova police for alleged violation of the Environment Act. He was booked for dumping debris near mangroves behind his bungalow and building illegal construction near it. Sharma had bought the bungalow number 71 at Four Bungalows area in Andheri (West), Mhada Colony, from a businessman on November 7 last year. Prior to which, based on a complaint by a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official,  the Oshiwara police had registered an FIR against the actor under section 53(7) of Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP), for alleged unauthorized construction at his flat in Goregaon. Sharma had later approached the Bombay High Court challenging the notice issued by BMC directing destruction of an illegal structure allegedly constructed by him at his flat in suburban Goregaon. Sharma, in his petition, claimed that the BMC notice was “bad in law” and issued with “malafide intentions”. Article Source: India.com
