Chaitra Navratri Wishes 2021: Greetings, Images, Status
Navratri is the nine-day lone festival dedicated to Goddess Durga when devotees worship Nine forms of Goddess Durga each day. The festival falls on the first day of the Hindu Luni-Solar calendar, which usually falls in March or April.
Devotees follow the fasting ritual for nine days and break the fast on the eighth (Ashtami) or the ninth day (Navami). There is a ritual of ‘Kanya’ or ‘Kanchika Pujan‘ wherein nine girls are worshipped, they are treated to a spread of puri, halwa, and chana and gifted handkerchief/clothes and money as a token.
In Maharasthra, Chaitra Navratri is celebrated as Gudi Padwa, while in Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh is celebrated as Ugadi. In Kashmir, it is called Navreh, and for the Sindhi community, it is known as Cheti Chand or Jhulelal Jayanti. It marks the beginning of the new season when new flowers and fruits start to blossom.
